Sterbefall, nicht bloß der Fall, da Jemand stirbt, der Todesfall, sondern hauptsächlich das Recht, welches in einigen Gegenden herrschte, bei dem Absterben eines Leibeigenen sich eines Theils der Verlassenschaft desselben anzueignen, und wenn dieser Theil das beste Stück Vieh ist, so wird dieses das ***Sterbehaupt*** genannt.

agree after having foubnd your def. again and reading up on the general lot of the "Leibeeigenen" I would agree with Penny to leave the original term. "lion's share of the estate" would certainly not be the right register here :)

Es handelt sich um ein archaisches Konzept. Es geht um die Geschichte einer Stadt in der die Leute bis zum 17. Jahrundert ein Sterbehaupt bezahlen mussten. In meinem Text wird das Wort nicht beschrieben, die Definition hab ich aus dem Netz hat aber nichts mit meiner Uebersetzung zu tun.
