German term

Erwartungswahrscheinlichkeit

German to English Social Sciences Social Science, Sociology, Ethics, etc.
From a research proposal on youth unemployment in Germany.

etc. etc.

"Expected probability" seems to beg the question of what the Handlungsalternartive will do, but then again, the German seems to leave this vague as well. Or am I missing something?

Yes - you know how sometimes you just take an immediate dislike to the author you're translating?
BrigitteHilgner Aug 16, 2011:
probability that expectations come true Meine Interpretation. Ich hasse es, wenn Texte nicht der Kommunikation dienen sondern vor allem zeigen sollen, dass sich der Autor gelehrt ausdrücken kann.

probability

This is a tautology, because a probability is an expectation. Also, they've already used the word Erwartung earlier in the sentence, so it would be repetition.
Peer comment(s):

neutral BrigitteHilgner : From a statistical point of view, probabilty is not the same as expectation. How would you phrase the whole sentence?

If I spend three precious minutes of my time translating the whole sentence, is there a chance you'll agree with me? Otherwise I can't be bothered :-)
