I think that the word היקף should not be translated at all. The very nature of the two paper types dictates their scope, and forcing the word היקף into the sentence is unnecessary. However, if you feel that within context you must find a way to include the word היקף also in English, I would say that length (as Desertfox suggested) or scope will cover it, e.g. final paper of(/in) a seminar scope (or similar).

למקרה שלא הבנת, אני אבהיר את הנקודה השאלה היא לגבי המונח "בהיקף" - נתתי כאן שני מקרים שונים של שימוש במונח. בהחלט לא מדובר פה בשתי שאלות נפרדות ומכאן, שזה לא בניגוד לכללים
