but definitely not 'specialization'.

Because medical nursing is a degree, which may or may not have particular specializations (I don't know). Just like MD is a more general term, i.e. degree, and then there are various specializations (GP, cardiology, dermatology etc.). Just my 2c - I could always be wrong, of course:-)
