help needed with sentence

Spanish to English Other Education / Pedagogy Campus of Excellence
I'm struggling to sort out the punctuation in this long, meesy sentence and would like some help, especially regarding the word 'dentro' here - in, within, among? Thanks!

This is my draft so far:
"..has chosen areas of specialisation which, consistent with its abilities and unique geographical location, allow it to claim an international position, with defined scientific challenges and actions in the forefront of knowledge, among some of the main challenges facing humanity: ""

agree Barbara Thomas : "Vanguard" or "breaking edge" might be better than forefront

Thanks Barbara :)
agree neilmac : I like "in keeping with" and quite fail to understand what anyone could see lacking in "forefront", which I think is perfect here...
