This is from the letter of a Mexican lawyer, regarding the adoption of a baby girl. The context is as such:
"Lic. [Name of lawyer], con la personalidad de Abogado Patrono de los CC. [names of clients]..."
So it would be something to the effect of, "[Name of lawyer], Esq., acting in my capacity as the *** lawyer of [names of clients]..."
What I don't get is the kind of lawyer he is, as indicated by the word "Patrono."
According to Tom West's dictionary, an "abogado patrocinante" is an attorney who advises clients, as opposed to an "abogado apoderado," who has a power of attorney to represent them in court. These terms, however, are different from the one in the letter cited, and apply to the Argentine legal system, not the Mexican.
"Abogado Patrono" is not listed in any of my legal dictionaries. Could it be something as simple as "in my capacity as the lawyer representing [names of clients]"?

Es lo mismo que abogado patrocinante. Mi marido es abogado, y me ha explicado el \"abogado patrocinante\" es el que tiene poder para representar al cliente. Eso es todo ;o)

: I would just like to add that there seems to be an additional sense that a woman's "abogado patrono" is in a sense her "patron lawyer" in the same way that an angel is one's patron - a man (remember patriarchy and machismo, but not always bad!) who guides
