@Bill Just to let you know I do not see the Proz glossary as an authoritative body at all, just a source of information (right or wrong). This is exactly why I have provided 3 possible/impossible alternatives.

@Bill. I have absolutely no idea, all I have done is to provide several references that I have found for the asker to ponder. "Ideological falsehood" is the first, "negligent falsehood" is the second, and "document tampering" is the third...based on findings only, not anything else. I assume the asker is the "expert" here, so will choose as he/she sees fit.

Liz What on earth would ideological falsehood mean to any English speaker or lawyer. It's just another ProZ wrong answer. ProZ is useful to find ideas, but way, way, way too many of the answers are just plain wrong to accord it any authoritative status.

La he visto como "ideological forgery" pero no sé que tan católica sea esa traducción. Solo 211 hits en google y de sitios que han sido traducidos al inglés, lo que sí es cierto que en algunos países la falsedad ideologica no es solo en documento público, también se puede cometer falsedad ideológica en un documento privado.

Falsedad ideologica Al menos en Colombia, es en palabras simples "aseverar por escrito algo que quien lo firma sabe que no es cierto" no sé si en otros países reciba el mismo nombre, o que la descripción de la conducta sea diferente

B) La falsedad ideológica. Esta forma prescinde de la mutación material que caracteriza a la modalidad explicada. Es aquella que existe en un acto incluso exteriormente verdadero, cuando contiene declaraciones mendaces. Se llama ideológica porque el documento no es falso en sus condiciones de existencia, sino que son falsas las ideas que en él se quieren afirmar como verdaderas. Ella puede consistir en hacer aparecer en el documento como ocurrido algo que en la realidad no ocurrió o acaeció de manera distinta. Por eso se la denomina, también, falsedad histórica.

tipificado simply means defined, as a criminal offence is defined by legislation.

In that case my dear colleague, none of the "experts" on Proz seems to know what this is, based on the findings above..../I agree but this is a crime in L.A. isn't it?? Perhaps democracies do not have this crime???
