Blue Mistress From what I recall, the character in the book known as the 'Blue Mistress' has this name because her face is blue - perhaps due to make-up. Perhaps also she does not appear this way so much during the day. I don't think there are any cultural connotations here - although native speakers will be able to comment on this much better than me.
