neutral  Juan Jacob: Sí, por eso puse neutral, es un tema controversial. Algunos dirán TeXas, otros Tejas, New York, o Nueva York, Maimi o Miami.

  -> Hola Juan...entiendo tu idea... pero si estas viviendo en Estados Unidos, la gente habla y se refiere a los estados en su nombre en Ingles, por ejemplo, a "Texas" no le dicen Tejas... Yo he vivido en US y siempre todos los hispanohablantes nos refereimos

neutral  Luis Medina: Matrix, en Estados Unidos existen estados cuyo nombre es traducible, como Nueva York, Nueva Orleans, San Luis Missouri, y otros no traducibles, como Washington, etc. Nuevo México es perfectametne traducible.

disagree  Rosa Maria Duenas Rios (X): De acuerdo con Luis, Yo también he vivido en Estados Unidos y es Nuevo México. Por cierto, controversial va con ese. Y la Asociación Nacional de Periodistas Hispanos también señala que es Nuevo México.

agree  Stuart Allsop: It's a proper noun, the name of a state. If we were to translate proper nouns, then surely we should speak of the states of "Red" and "Snowed", instead of "Colorado" and "Nevada"? Proper names should not be translated. IMHO.
