En cuanto a lo de fijación de metas" parece que no leiste mis notas -- era una de mis propuestas (abajo de la principal) y la persona que lo propuso luego borró su respuesta porque me dió la razón.

Yes, Carmen is rigth. There are many possible answers. In the end I ended up using "planteamiento de objetivos" taken from a document similar to the one I had to translate, and I think Juan Vilca´s was the closest to that, even though I think they´re all rigth. I had seen another one which I liked which was "fijación de metas", but It looks like it´s been removed. Than you all very much....!

Along these same lines it would also make more sense and be more fair if the persons who propose an already exisiting answer gave an "AGREE" rather than rehash/ recycle an already existing answer (or at the very least read ALL the answers before jumping the gun!)

It would be more collaborative and fair if answerers along with voters read ALL the answers before giving their opinions and/or votes because some new answers read identically as others that may have been proposed below the main headline and credit may not be given to those who initiated these answers first.

Creo que es importante saber el lugar donde te dirijes con esto porque hay preferencias de estilo (enCentro Am. y Mex. usan FIJACION DE METAS; en ciertas partes del Caribe usan PLANIFICACION, etc...)

definición de metas

Creo que en realidad no hay nada establecido. Por ejemplo, uno de mis clientes prefiere definición cuando habla de "goals" y establecimiento cuando se trata de"objectives". Yo creo que es mera preferencia, así que tú eliges.
