French term

ingénieur des ventes

Non-PRO French to English Bus/Financial Human Resources industry/training
This is a person who is referred to in this text (which is extremely badly written in French) in the following way:
'il va aussi m'apporter le savir technique de sa marque, sa propre experience, son retour d'experience et son suppor pour etre dansl les temps dans les delais pour qu'en fin de compte, de plus en plus, on arrive a aller lin au niveau des MCDR sur les equipements.'
I think probably, that, besides being more or less gibberish in any case, it means MTDR (a training organisation) rather than MCDR, which is a construction company.

Change log

Feb 7, 2008 18:58: Carol Gullidge changed "Level" from "PRO" to "Non-PRO"

Feb 7, 2008 19:10: writeaway changed "Field (specific)" from "Business/Commerce (general)" to "Human Resources"

Votes to reclassify question as PRO/non-PRO:

Non-PRO (3): writeaway, cmwilliams (X), Carol Gullidge

When entering new questions, KudoZ askers are given an opportunity* to classify the difficulty of their questions as 'easy' or 'pro'. If you feel a question marked 'easy' should actually be marked 'pro', and if you have earned more than 20 KudoZ points, you can click the "Vote PRO" button to recommend that change.

How to tell the difference between "easy" and "pro" questions:

An easy question is one that any bilingual person would be able to answer correctly. (Or in the case of monolingual questions, an easy question is one that any native speaker of the language would be able to answer correctly.)

A pro question is anything else... in other words, any question that requires knowledge or skills that are specialized (even slightly).

Another way to think of the difficulty levels is this: an easy question is one that deals with everyday conversation. A pro question is anything else.

When deciding between easy and pro, err on the side of pro. Most questions will be pro.

* Note: non-member askers are not given the option of entering 'pro' questions; the only way for their questions to be classified as 'pro' is for a ProZ.com member or members to re-classify it.

Discussion

Anton Konashenok Feb 7, 2008:
It's a strange position title indeed, but I've seen "sales engineer" on business cards, etc. more than once.
Rob Grayson Feb 7, 2008:
Not trying to be funny, but I don't see why you needed to post this question - even the most basic research would have found you the answer.

sales engineer

Plenty of g-hits for "sales engineer" and I don't see anything wrong with it.
You could always opt for something like "Technical Sales Rep (or Executive)" if you prefer.

sales engineer

Why not simply "sales engineer" ?

Reply to Asker : although Google isn't God, it still has 196,000 occurrences... Shouldn't you consider that ?
Note from asker:
I thought you would either be in sales or an engineer or maybe in engineering sales, but didn't think that 'sales engineer' made sense. (as far as the glossary is concerned, it doesn't seem to work on my computer).
