French term or phrase: déreglé
Que penser alors de la « nature » qui témoigne à la fois d’un élan de vie dont on s’émerveille à juste titre et qui est capable, dans le même élan, d’apporter la mort par prolifération d’une vie envahissante et déréglée ? I know it means 'gone awry' but can't think of a good combination of adjectives in this sentence.

uncontrolled

Explanation:
My version because:
Out of control implies there was control in the first place, which there isn't in this case. Uncontrolled is from the onset without control.

perhaps something like:
uncontrolled and invasive (rather than invasive and uncontrolled which doesn't flow so well)

are we in the neoplastic sphere with out of control, unregulated cancer cell growth, or somewhere else ?
the sentences given lead me to think of that but perhaps that is not it....

One needs to express the escape from usual constraints on cell growth and orderliness of cell division with feedback loops that control the angiogenesis for healthy cells. This situation is entirely the contrary. One can have linguistic preferences for alternative formulations but the idea of "out of control" walks the line between overly "medical" and "scientific" vocabulary and inaccurate metaphors, however poetic or good otherwise.
"Out of control" does impl there was control before, as indeed there was:
normal homeostatic mechanisms for cell division and blood supply save us from cancerous growth and blood vessel proliferation when such proliferation is not necessary....Without going into "derepression of oncogene" talk, it does make sense.

care free

Explanation:
The context talks metaphoricaly of the two sides of nature.
Care free appears to fit in the nuance of the situation. It means awry, not concerned about regulation, essentially care free
