I understand this to mean just about anyone involved in the film creation process, but I'm trying to find a word that sounds nice and smooth and fits in the following sentence:
"The company was founded in 20xx to bring together young xxx who embody the creative processes of a new era."
Is "cinematographers" the best bet?

Nothing official or scientifically proven:-), just a thought.
When it comes to it, 'cinematographers' are in fact not just about anybody involved. At least in Russian it has a flavor of top people - directors, cameramen, scriptwriters, top actors, and computer animators added to the list nowadays. The word somehow points at those who rule the creation part of the movie shooting first. Of course, there is a usual clingfish - from producers and critics to cameramen assistants and the rest of the entourage. Very important people and, gathered together with the great white, they will all be called C., but I don't believe that someone would describe them as cinematographers separately. I think the idea of your sentence corresponds to such notion. Молодые кинематографисты - sounds great.

: It appears to me that the "cinematographer" (or even "ist") option is the correct one, regardless of the frequency of occurence of other similarly sounding words and expressions. They ARE used wide, but they do seem to have (slightly) different meaning
