bed and breakfast - B&B система гостиничного обслуживания в Великобритании (также имеется и в других странах), в которой в цену обслуживания входит кровать и завтрак.

Разница между полупансионом и BB:

В ваучере для краткости указывается только вид (план) питания кодом. Таким бразом, в описании тура, гостиничных услуг или заказа непременно указывается вид питания plan и время (период времени) питания (time for meal):

bed or without meal без питания;
bed and breakfast завтрак, включенный в стоимость номера;
breakfast and evening meal завтрак и ужин;
half pension (half board) полупансион;
breakfast and lunch and evening meal full pension (full board) полный пансион.

Туроператоры разных стран используют самые различные (првычные им) обозначения и аббревиатуры видов питания, поэтому следует тщательно просмотреть все сноски в каталоге, указывающие на обозначения и сокращения в описаниях услуг, или получить необходимые и достаточно четкие разъяснения.

There is yet another aspect to B&B

Explanation:
Those who traveled through the U.S. and Canada have probably encountered what is called bed and breakfast accommodations - all are part of a private residence, offer short term overnight stays, include breakfast(s) in the room charge, and are known for the personal services offered. It is a very popular for those traveling on budget. Here is a formal definition:
Bed and breakfast means a private residence, which provides lodging and meals for guests, in which the host or hostess resides and which has eleven or fewer guestrooms and which does not hold itself out to the public to be a restaurant, hotel, or motel.

Now it might come as a shock, but considering that B&B is a private residence, which is rented out for short-term guests, I dare to translate it as (depending on the context):

Размещение в частном секторе с завтраком
Частная гостиница (might be a bit confusing)
Семейная гостиница, расположеная в старом особняке (my creative thinking)

Just a couple of thoughts:

Bed-and-breakfast could be used independently as follows:

We stayed in a charming bed-and-breakfast.
There are two bed-and-breakfasts in our neighborhood

As such, it should be written with dashes, but I have seen as bed and breakfast. For example:

Please give me a list of all bed and breakfasts in this city.

Bed-and-breakfast (NOUN: abbr. B & B) A private residence, several rooms of which are set aside for overnight guests whose paid accommodations include breakfast. (The American Heritage Dictionary of the English Language (Fourth Edition))

Galina Labinko Rodriguez: You are right, this type of family run business also is very popular in Ireland. But when you buy a holiday package (flight and hotel) you can choose from Selfcatering,BB, All Inclusive, HalfBoard. I think the translation depends on the context

Hello Tatiana,
I am sorry to bother you, but you entered totally wrong term. There is a big difference between BB and HalfBoard accommodation, which many Proz members tried to explain to you. If you look in Lingvo, these 2 terms are not presented as synonyms. Polupansion (half board) - when you get 'zavtrak y obed' along with accommodation. Bed and Breakfast, as it states from its name, only offers you accommodation and 'zavtrak'.
