prädikat stands for Auszeichnung, but U.S. and most British certificates and diplomas do use the term in this conjunction.

Quote from UCLA Graduate School of Education & Information Studies,Department of Education (http://www.gseis.ucla.edu/gseisdoc/handbook/edd.shtml):

"In a first sitting for this examination, students may be "passed," "passed with honors," "passed at the Master's level" (the "terminal" Master's), or failed. Students "passed at the Master's level" will be given one further opportunity to pass at the doctoral level; students who have failed will be given a second opportunity to take the examination at the Master's level only."

with distinction!

Common US academic predicate!
Peer comment(s):

neutral Cilian O'Tuama : That's the (correct) translation of "mit Auszeichnung" not of "Prädikat".

The term:"with distinction" (Auszeichnung) constitutes the "predicate" (Aussage), Cilian!
