who can recommend a dictionary on software terminology (the whole user surface, menus, dropdown menus, icons, windows etc.).

Microsoft's official terminology May 30, 2003

Hello Eva,
if you need Microsoft's official terminology, this is the place you should go:

ftp://ftp.microsoft.com/developr/msdn/newup/Glossary/

This is a vast collection of 20-30 language pairs (English always being the source language), 10-15 csv-files in each language pair. Sometimes very helpful.
