Matecat issue

Dear Translators,

I have just had a problem with matecat which I found very good.
I had to remove google chrom from my pc for the reasons of security.
I installed FireFox. Imagine that matecat tell me I cannot access my account, because they don't accept firefox, they said: we run only on google chrom and safari.

I am very angry.

Why are you so angry? It is made clear that MateCat does not work on Firefox:

And it is free - which outweighs an awful lot of other issues.

Surely you can work in Chrome just for MateCat if you have to use Firefox?

As much as we would love to support Firefox, there are technical reasons why we cannot do it now (mostly Javascript issues).

We've decided to invest our efforts in developing new features and improving MateCat so that our users can use it for free on two very common browsers: Safari and Chrome.

If you believe you cannot use Chrome, I would suggest you try with Safari - it works on both Mac and Windows.

For me, google chrom is not enough securized, is very uncomfortable it is a waste of time.
It means, you are not good enough to propose your free tool for everyone. Than it is not so free anymore.
Of course it is only my point of view. People are free to do what they want.

I am not happy about it.

Safari didn't work either. Dec 15, 2015

I tried to use Safari, even with Safari it doesn't work.
Could you tell me why? I cannot access my files!

I've checked the log files of MateCat, and thousands of users are using it with Safari, so there must be a reason why it doesn't work for you.

Can you pleaase give us more detailed information about what happens, so that we can help you to solve your issue?

I can imagine your anger and frustration, but the fact is that web-based apps often require very specific browsers to work in. Many Chrome-based apps don't work in any other browser. In the same way, many Windows-based programs can't be installed on any other system (Linux, Mac, Android, etc). That is normal.

I tried to access matecat.com with a few other modern browsers that are frequently updated with security patches. Opera (not version 12.17) can't access it, even if I mask the user agent (very sad!). Vivaldi, Otter Browser, and SRWare Iron all bypass that screen telling you to get Chrome, so they appear to work with MateCat.

I reinstalled all, removed Firefox and Safari, and reinstalled google chrome.

I was just angry at the moment, because I've lost one day to sort out all.

Is it OK now?

In general, if you have an issue, we suggest to first refresh the browser multiple times using CTRL+R and try again, and if it is not enough you can use the browser in an incognito window and then try again.
