Hi! all, I have been considering to purchase some OCR software. Here both Finereader and Readiris seem to be very competitive products. But which one is better. If any of you have experience with both, I shall appreciate all adv. Thank you in advance. brandis | | | Uldis Liepkalns Latvia Local time: 03:59 Member (2003) English to Latvian + ... IMHO, definitely Finereader | Jun 10, 2004 |
as Readiris creates multiple text boxes all across the page, linked between themselves in a zigzag way, which makes further processing very difficult, especially if it is two column text- by making some changes on page one, all the text down to the very end of the document is randomly shifted. I have in my search for an affordable OCR tried different options such as FineReader but found it extremely expensive compared to Scansofts PaperPort Pro, the latest version is #9. PaperPro costs less than FineReader and will support languages. Have you tried a the demo version? It is a free download. | |

I thank you for the good advice. I have tried both as Demos, now after purchasing the Fine Reader I have a feeling that it is taking up too much of memory, and Readiris not. Correct me if I am wrong.
