Italian term
mangiarmela
A refreshing change from financial statements - I'm translating a number of handwritten questionnaires relating to a cat food survey. The question is "Come descriverebbe il tuo gatto questo prodotto?" So this is the cat's answer!
"Mangiare un cibo con dei veri pezzi di pollo dentro mi da la sensazione di aver acciuffato una preda e dato che sono un felino di *mangiarmela poi soddisfatto per la caccia*"

"hunt now ... eat at leisure" sort of moggy
Hi Jean, you need to turn the whole thing on its head, IMHO!
It's saying that the cat is one who hunts now and then eats the catch later, savouring the satisfaction of the hunt above all.
"mangiarmela", as everyone says, refers to the prey.

eat it (the prey) all up
mangiarmi (la preda, mentioned previously ) = mangiarmela

maybe "gobble it all up" could sound more like cat's talk ...meeaoww ;-)

devour (the prey)

: I like 'devour' in this case as one gets the feeling of the hunt and the feline hungrily demolishing the prey

whisker-licking
Hi Jean,
Maybe you could go for a whisker-licking metaphor:
“Those real chicken chunks, are whisker-linkin’ good.”
Or
“The real chicken chunks leave me licking my whiskers”
Something like that.
;-)
