: I don't think "scalfitture" can be translated as "dents" - they're scratches, from SCALFIRE, to scratch

: sorry, dent is ammaccatura, very different from scalfittura, chip is scheggia, frammento, nothing to do with the context you gave other meaning

the Italian is not very good it should be " si vedevano" because scalfitture in plural -scalfittura, scalfitture-, so the verb has to be plural too :)
