German term

Versorgung/versorgen

German to English Tech/Engineering IT (Information Technology)
Zurzeit werden die I•Sec Boxen zur Versorgung von Reuters 3000Xtra Applikationen genutzt. Es gibt aber auch einige SAP Systeme, die über I•Sec versorgt werden.

Danke!

Johannes Gleim Nov 20, 2006:
Will the I•Sec-Box provide power or data for 3000Xtra or SAP systems? The right translation depends on the this.
Ingeborg Gowans (X) Nov 20, 2006:

The text above provides an explantion of the term. "Feed" or "Power" may fit, but I'm still not sure.
Carolyn Brice Nov 20, 2006:
Could you explain what "I•Sec Boxen" are?

power

A guess really, but could it be that the I-Sec boxes (whatever they are) are used to power Reuters 3000Xtra applications. And there are some SAP systems that are powered by I Sec.

As I said, a guess.

Another idea: feed/fed by (I-Sec Boxes are used to feed the Reuters 3000Xtra applications)

The latest release builds on the existing open desktop. This already provides extensive tools for the display of news, prices, charts, analytics, fundamental data and time series. It uses Microsoft ActiveX and COM standards, and web technology such as XML in both the Kobra and Excel containers. Reuters 3000 Xtra can be fed either by the new Reuters Market Data System (RMDS), Triarch, TIB (via SSL adapter), Reuters Small Site Delivery (RSSD) or Reuters Workstation Server (RWS).

Based on your explanation, I would think that it is fed by the I Sec Box, see the last sentence of the text above. But maybe you should wait for an expert to confirm or disagree and provide a better answer.

provide input {data} to...

as the Reuters 3000 Xtra is a transation service, the applications may be running on these Isec boxes to generate data for use by the service.

Just another {educated} guess as the lack of context is really a problem here.

agree Carolyn Brice : Makes sense, again based on my reading of what this box does.
