Ein PN-Übergang ist stromdurchlässig geschaltet,
wenn der Pluspol der äusseren
Spannungsquelle am P-Leiter und der Minuspol
am N-Leiter liegt.
wenn der Pluspol der äusseren

Comment: "After reading up on the same and having received confirmation from colleagues, this seems to be bang on.
Thanks a lot!!

(electrically) conducting
That's what's meant at least.

: conducting means "leitend" not permeable.

conducts
I would keep it simple:
A PN junction conducts when ....
A PN junction conducts when ....

current flows through
and which initiates an ignition of the explosive material when current flows through ..

Ein PN-Übergang ist stromdurchlässig geschaltet, wenn ->
Current flows through the PN transition, if ...

What says Kucera, Dictionary of Exct Science and Technology (1460 pages German-English)?
stromdurchflossen - live, alive, hot, energized, current-carrying,
Stromdurchgang - current passage, passage of current.
No mention of "stromdurchlässig"

Alloy:
1. metallic material, such as steel, consisting of a mixture of two or more metals or of metallic with nometallic elements
2. something that impairs the quality of the thing to which it is added
3. to add (one metal or element to another) to obtain a substance with the desired property
4. a debase (a pure substance) by mixing wiht an interior element
5. to diminish or impair
(WHSmith/Collins English Dictionary)
legieren / to dope / to alloy / to thicken
(Kucera, Dictionary of Exact Science and Technology)
As shown above "addig to" is equivalent to "alloying". But better in style as "alloy" has been already used.

: durchlässig = "allows" current to flow, which is the same as conducting, which is a much smoother translation.

durchlässig = permeable, very uncommon for electrical subjects. Therfore you have to work around.

Discussion
conductible = leitfähig
permeability = (magnetische) Durchlässigkeit
acc. Budig, Fachwörterbuch Elektrotechnik und Elektronik and Electropedia (IEC glossary) and my professional experience (38 years) as electrical engineer.

forward biased rarely: biassed [elec.] in Vorwärtsrichtung betrieben
http://dict.leo.org/ende?lp=ende&lang=de&searchLoc=0&cmpType...
