Discussion

Nikki Scott-Despaigne Jul 12, 2012:
@ Asker Your extra information gives no explanataionas to what PGA stands for. Did the client say so? Which university is concerned?
Stefano Nicola D'Amato (X) (asker) Jul 12, 2012:
I emailed the department at the university and got the following response:

- UE 7 : Préparation et gestion de séance -
Contenu : Choix de l'APS, le cycle en EPS, la leçon (durée, rythme, objectifs) , tâche, situation - APS : ressources sollicitées , analyse.
Stefano Nicola D'Amato (X) (asker) Jul 12, 2012:
Gad, that is what I figured. My research showed that in France the same acronym PGA is used. I'm just a bit perplexed about this as a course title! I tried to ask the client but he does not remember the course! Thanks for your input. It is appreciated.

Have you done any research yourself?

Merci beaucoup!
disagree Gavin Jack : This is not the name of a university course.

neutral Nikki Scott-Despaigne : In context, along with STAPS, this may well be right. Not enough context given yet to be sure though. There are courses specialising in PGA management. See ref section below.

Baccalauréat Professionnel Gestion Administration (PGA)

Peer comment(s):

neutral Nikki Scott-Despaigne : Much as I would tend more naturally towards this solution, the accronym in your own referenece uses GA, not PGA, the "P" coming from "bac pro".

If it is a course related to golf, given the STAPS context...

... then the following type of course may be appropriate.
Not enough context to be sure, but here are some example. You need to ask your client and/or determine where the alleged study was carried out. That would give you your precise answer, I am sure! Meanwhile, you can be sure of nothing until your client has given you the full title and name of the institution in French ; only then can you produce something useful in English. The source may turn out to be in English in the original if studied abroad, which is possible.

Licence en études Appliquées de Gestion de Golf
UNIVERSITY OF BIRMINGHAM

Be careful, as possible does not mean likely and likely does not mean certain. There are contexts in which PGA applies to plumbing and also to the environment. Anything! People do switch fields too. It's not just because you've done STAPS that everything before/after is sports-related. (I've got law, languages, biology and psychology on my CV and if I stuck to the accronyms, I could make it say "tout et son contraire"!)
