Spanish term or phrase: valor
This is a text defending abstract art by an Argentine painter from the early 20th century. I think "valor" may mean simply color here:

Esto es, no basta no representar objetos fácilmente reconocibles; lo que es necesario abolir del cuadro es la ley por la cual dos tintas o dos valores determinan la representación de un espacio.

value/brightness/intensity
Explanation:
I would go for brightness or intensity, as "value" is potentially ambiguous.

"El modelo HSV (del inglés Hue, Saturation, Value – Matiz, Saturación, Valor), también llamado HSB (Hue, Saturation, Brightness – Matiz, Saturación, Brillo), define un modelo de color en términos de sus componentes."

"HSV stands for hue, saturation, and value, and is also often called HSB (B for brightness)."

Explanation:
Without knowing for sure the intended meaning of "valor" as used here, I would take the safe road and use the most ambiguous term possible.

neutral  Eliza Ariadni Kalfa: Just a question: how would you phrase that in this context though, as it's talking about "two xxx"? You can't say two brighnesses or two intensities - which is why I think "two tones" or "tonalities" works here.
