That's the only way I can think of to make it rhyme. Most of the time it is translated without the rhyme. "¡De la vuelta, no se ahogue!" or "¡Regrese, no se ahogue!"

Retroceda mientras pueda. No espere que la inundación ceda.
I like Jonathan's answer, no se ahogue en un vaso de agua, but reading Hardy's last explanation, I thought about that one with a little bit of a rhyme.
Another possibility, maybe, could be, Retroceda, no deje que la inundación interceda.
