English term or phrase: Transcriptionally silent
Hi,

I need to translate the phrase 'transcriptionally silent'. This is the context:
"...it is quite clear that naïve T-cells are an important reservoir for HIV, because they are long lived, they are transcriptionally silent, and so they are more hidden to the immune system,..."

I don't see the phrase "transcripción silenciosa" being used anywhere.

Thanks in advance!

transcriptionally silent
