On rotary cement kilns, the Ofenschüsse are the sections which are assembled end to end, thus forming the kiln shell (can be over 70 m in length).
Each section is formed by bending a large steel plate into a 'pipe' shape. The width of the plate determines the length of the pipe section.
As your text involves 'delivery segments', I suspect that your pottery kiln also consists of sections, especially if it is a rotary kiln.

an Ofenschuß (or Schuß in den Ofen) is IMO a colloquial term for describing a 'Fehlschlag' or 'Misserfolg', i.e. something that hasn't turned out as intended, hence my above suggestions. However, I don't remember hearing it in a technical context.

The website below is only one of two where I could find the word Ofenschuss as it offers a German pdf file. Couldn't find the English translation though maybe you are luckier. It might be the kiln opening but I really can't say.

I have met the term "rotary kiln" as a translation of Ofenschuß however it refers to large units for the cement industry. In your case I think its somekind of rotating furniture for the pottery kiln - kiln furniture. I also found another term "kiln sitter" meaning mechanical devise for switching the kiln off when preset temperature is achieved, but i did not find a german equivalent for it.
Anyway, the second web-site below is a english-german-english dictionary of pottery, ceramic etc. term. Maybe it will help you for the rest of the translation (unfortunately no Ofenschuß there)

Seen it recently in
the Spiegel and Kicker (soccer magazine) where it's used figuratively as something that 'backfires on you', or 'shooting yourself in the foot'. Never heard of it before.
