到那个时候,他们就不是想要而是非常想要它了。

  “demand”比“want”语气强烈的多,后者甚至含有强制命令。这里把两个词放在一块,是为了突出非要不可的愿望。我们中文也常用。比如我们会说“不是好而是非常好”,“他不是笨而是十分笨”等等。
