Period. New sentence

The expression علماً بأن is commonly used as a "sliding board" to help some writers achieve the goal of merging all sentences together in one continuous thought. This style is roundly discouraged in English. If you are translating into English, you do not have to imitate that style, unless there is an overriding reason to do so (such as when the style itself is considered integral to the message or of value to the reader or to the purpose of the translation project). Otherwise, you simply use a period to end the sentence, then start a new sentence. In a way, the period is the "translation" of this expression.

Of course, in some contexts, the expression علماً بأن is used for exactly what it says, i.e., "knowing that," or "bearing in mind," as explained by my colleagues. Therefore, it is important to read the sentences before and after the expression very carefully to judge whether the expression carries a real meaning or is just used as a sliding board.
