Arabic term (edited): يُفَرِّط

renounce

يُفَرِّط
renounce: ف. تخلى, هجر, تنازل, اعتزل, تنكر, ارتد, صرف النظر, زهد, تنسك, نكر

I think this would suggest both meanings: abandon, and give up.
The suggestions by my colleagues will work as well: Waive, abandon.

By the way, this verb you're asking about (with 'Shaddah' ) is a totally different verb than
يُفرِط
(without 'Shaddah'), which means "overdo".

Only the context, or vowelizing the word, would point at the intended word.
