Hallo, ich hänge bei meiner Übersetzung eines Handbuchs für einen Ölbohrturm an folgendem Satz:

"All personnel should be protected from exposed mechanical dangers such as guards fabricated from expanded metal and other similar hazards."

"Guard" ist doch in meinem Verständnis eine Schutzeinrichtung, wieso sollen Personen davor geschützt werden?

Yes, it does sound funny, but if the guard is to keep you away from some moving part and, because of the way the machine is positioned, it sticks out into, say, the area above a stairway, you could get a nasty bump. But, you would NOT get caught by machin

But if the guard is made of expanded steel, I\'d hate to bang my head on it, or get my big toe stuck in it ... you know how it is with liability in the US. Wear your hardhat and steel-toed shoes.
