It's about the description of a system recovery product. George Rabel wrote a great explanation about 'bare-metal': The expression "bare metal" refers to the fact that the system is in a state close to being just a piece of metal. Bueno, bare-metal en realidad, como pasa tantas veces en el campo de la informática, no se suele traducir.
Cuando uno se refiere a bare-metal, lo que quiere decir es que se está metiendo a muy bajo nivel, yendo más hacia el hardware que hacia el software, tal vez solución de restauración "a bajo nivel" o tal vez "desde cero" podría servir.

Cuando uno se refiere a bare-metal, lo que quiere decir es que se está metiendo a muy bajo nivel, yendo más hacia el hardware que hacia el software, tal vez solución de restauración "a bajo nivel" o tal vez "desde cero" podría servir.

Se refiere a un sistema "limpio", sin nada instalado, "limpio", o también "bare metal" e incluso, como te apunta Javier (aunque no se utiliza demasiado), de "metal puro".
