English term

within three years of study treatment

English to Spanish Medical Medical: Pharmaceuticals clinical trial
Is the translation of "en los 3 años anteriores al tratamiento" correct for the above phrase?

Thanks

abe(L)solano Aug 1, 2022:
"• Malignancy requiring treatment within 2 years prior to randomization/evidence of disease, except for:".
• If archival tissue is not available...
• Other malignant tumors within 3 years...

Saludos.

@ Abel Here's the previous phrase:
If archival tissue is not available, a baseline biopsy is required within 28 days of Cycle 1 Day 1.
Other malignant tumors within 3 years of study treatment, except for:

Thank you

If the subject has any other malignant tumours in the 3 years prior to starting the study treatment, then they cannot be enrolled.

I think it must be talking about past tumours, as opposed to a future tumour occurring in the next 3 years. It's very similar to lots of ICFs I've translated from Es to En.

neutral Jose Marino : not enough context to assure it is before.

But there is enough context to be certain it is after? Maria gave more context in disc. and common sense dictates it is talking about excl. crit. - so past 3 years, not some hypothetical future situation (which I'm sure is covered in another section).

agree abe(L)solano : I am almost sure it's on the Exclusion Criteria section of the document. (cf Discussion)

Thanks Abel, I've translated scores of these and I'm fairly sure that's what it refers to.

neutral Neil Ashby : // Yes, it can mean both, before or after. within prep (time: before the end of) (tiempo) dentro de loc prep https://www.wordreference.com/es/translation.asp?tra //Maria gave more context in disc. and based on my experience + logic.

within of implies before or after?: https://forum.wordreference.com/threads/within-of.3423736/
agree Cristina Zavala
