Network Architect

This is the way IBM specialist are called. Architect is one of their professions, and network architect a subset of the profession.

network designer

An alternative - Fr IT texts refer to architects more often than Eng ones do, but they both basically mean the guy who designs a network.

...designs a network in this case, I mean. You also get things like \"architecture logiciel\" which just basically means \"software design\" - how it all fits together.

There is, of course, nothing wrong with Network Architect - as I said, \'designer\' was just an alternative, if you have moral objections to architect :-)
