Diplôme HEC

French to English Bus/Financial Certificates, Diplomas, Licenses, CVs
Hello,

I am translating a French academic certificate and was wondering whether anyone knows what the equivalent of the above would be in the UK system?

Unfortunately it does not give any further information on the certificate.

Any help would be gratefully received.

Many thanks,

Georgia

Votes to reclassify question as PRO/non-PRO:

Non-PRO (2): David Hayes, Bertrand Leduc

When entering new questions, KudoZ askers are given an opportunity* to classify the difficulty of their questions as 'easy' or 'pro'. If you feel a question marked 'easy' should actually be marked 'pro', and if you have earned more than 20 KudoZ points, you can click the "Vote PRO" button to recommend that change.

How to tell the difference between "easy" and "pro" questions:

An easy question is one that any bilingual person would be able to answer correctly. (Or in the case of monolingual questions, an easy question is one that any native speaker of the language would be able to answer correctly.)

A pro question is anything else... in other words, any question that requires knowledge or skills that are specialized (even slightly).

Another way to think of the difficulty levels is this: an easy question is one that deals with everyday conversation. A pro question is anything else.

When deciding between easy and pro, err on the side of pro. Most questions will be pro.

* Note: non-member askers are not given the option of entering 'pro' questions; the only way for their questions to be classified as 'pro' is for a ProZ.com member or members to re-classify it.

No further information? It's a very strange "academic certificate" that gives no information other than "Diplôme HEC".
By "academic certificate", do you mean that this is the certificate of a "diplôme HEC", or that the certificate is from another institution or for another purpose and includes the text "Diplôme HEC"?
If HEC refers to HEC Paris, according to its website the qualification it awards is a Master's degree (other than some short-course "certificates"), so degree rather than diploma for UK English.
writeaway Sep 24, 2013:
standard procedure is to keep the French and provide an English equivalent. Not sure if an MBA applies. It's basically a degree from an elite business school. You should be able to figure it out from the refs provided.
writeaway Sep 24, 2013:
My Fr-En dictionary says it's Hautes Etudes Commerciales
abréviation de (École des) Hautes études commerciales : top French business school

neutral writeaway : already posted as reference. /oops. they say it is a grande école. in that case it may well be the only one. I see you haven't shown any other in France. HEC does exist in other countries.

Reference shows only the one in Paris! From my link it clearly shows that there is more than one establishment with this type of diploma!!
