This comes up in a text about installing device boxes. This may be glaringly obvious to someone who is familiar with construction terminology, but I am at a loss. It is not "1/2 pouce", it is is simply "gypse ½."

Context:

Nous avons ensuite les guides positionnement pour les murs à gypse ½, ainsi que les guides pour des murs qui ont deux fois ½. De l’autre côté, nous avons des guides positionnement pour des murs extérieurs avec fourrure et gypse ½. Elle possède également deux pics de retenue pour faciliter son installation sur montant.
