French term

postes et centrales

French to English Tech/Engineering Energy / Power Generation Electric power
this is for large electrical power stations & I'm thinking of going with "posts & stations". Any better suggestions?

substations (or switchyards) and power stations

If your "postes" are anywhere in the system, the "substations", but if they are the substations AT power stations, then "switchyards".
Over 20 years experience translating for dams, hydro power schemes, nuclear plants, etc.

neutral Tony M : I would avoid the use of the confusing term 'stations' (on its own), as 'stations and substations' would give the appearance of applying to the same type of thing
