French term

Parrainage et Filleul

mentor(ship) and mentee

There are a few gaming sites you find on Google using these two common terms.

Buddy system and newbie

Just an idea from left-field.

Less colloquially, there is tutor (system) and tutee.

Also big brother and little brother (bit sexist)

Oops, just re-read your note and think I may be on the wrong track completely. The parrain isn\'t somebody who introduces the filleul to the site in the sense of showing him the ropes, is he? He\'s just the person who recommends the site to him, right? Oh dear...

In that case, I\'m stumped.
