approximated evolution
The percussion method (PM) approximates the regular elements of Rint and Rext
by the percussions. This procedure is named stress atomization. The approximated
evolution is obtained by calculating a series of velocities discontinuities separated
by constant velocity evolutions. If this procedure is applied to a system formed by
solids, this procedure is known as A-CD2 method. Practically, the application of
the A-CD2 method can be summarized as follows:

I considered "development" instead of "evolution" but I could not find any references to support that. I'm not convinced that evolution is incorrect here. Also, I did find more references to a "multiparticle system evolution" but none for "multiparticle system development"

Or "approximation to the development/changes". "Evolution" is typically used differently in English vs French/Spanish and several of the papers in this area are by non-native anglophones, so I'd be a little cautious with them.
