Thank you all for taking the time to help! The client has confirmed that the appropriate translation would be "corrective surgery for buried organ" as Bourth suggested.
Non-ProZ.com Jul 25, 2005:
Its a kind of glossary for the social security.
I have asked them for an explanation...still waiting
Marilyn Amouyal Jul 25, 2005:
Enfouissement is often burying, so maybe the opposite could be unburying or exposure or something similar. Knowing the type of surgery concerned would help; then you could look at similar texts in English.
Marilyn Amouyal Jul 25, 2005:
Poor you. What is it, a dictionary? If they want the verbs to be of any real use to anyone, they should add a sentence with the verb in its context.
Non-ProZ.com Jul 25, 2005:
Sorry, not osteology. My mistake
I haven't really got any context. It is just in a list of medical verbs that convey the notion of "librr" in some way :
DBLOCAGE
DBRIDEMENT
DCOMPRESSION
DGAGEMENT
DSENFOUISSEMENT
DSOBSTRUCTION
LIBRATION
RECANALISATION
REPERMATION

I don't suppose that actually helps much?
DocteurPC Jul 25, 2005:
Agree with Marilyn - context please - I'm starting to sound like a broken record this morning (it's morning here)
Marilyn Amouyal Jul 25, 2005:
Some context please. Your definition concerns the abdominal cavity and your question category is osteology. Apparently this is surgery, but what type of operation?

Many of the Google hits for "désenfouissement + chirurgie" refer to "désenfouissement" of the penis. Something you might want to have a look at (well, not really) if you have no context, just a list of words. Haven't found a term for it, but the following site describes "corrective surgery for a buried penis".

The surgical correction of a buried penis depends on the abnormality. However, marked improvement can be achieved in most patients by excising excessive pubic fat and suturing down the overlying skin of the pubis and scrotum to the erectile bodies.

Pénis enfoui :
Chez l\'enfant surtout, le pénis peut ne pas dépasser la paroi abdominale. Il existe un bourrelet graisseux dans lequel est enfoui le pénis du bébé trop potelé. La correction chirurgicale est possible mais souvent cela va s\'arranger avec l\'âge.

Sorry, forget my first comment; just realized the definition is not of DESenfouissement.
