Or perhaps just left out entirely in this case (since everything that follows is obviously work-related).

: I'd leave out this unnecessary qualifier - it's clear from context that the guy worked in the HR dept., "covering the areas/fields of..." (I'd just use "fields" or "areas" here).

Thanks, Steffen. Yes! When in doubt, leave it out! Actually, there's little doubt here: "Arbeitspolitisch" is indeed a superfluous bit of linguistic flotsam.
