Effect/Effectiveness of the Contract
Normally I rephrase this (when the contract becomes effective / comes into effect).

For a one-word version you could simply use \"Effectiveness\"

start date
to take account of 'werden'. Also makes a nice pairing with 'duration'

It would be a poor contract/agreement if it were not \'effective\' or \'valid\'. As \'start date\' is still two words, how about \'commencement\'?
\"Commencement and duration\"

Validity
Since you have asked for one word. It actually means the 'start date' as Andrew says or 'effective date' or 'date of commencement of the contract'. Hope that settles
