Surrounding context If the Anzeigeerstatter, namely an accountant/WP or tax adviser/SB as the grasser and the 'snitch' was appointed, this suggests the victory wasn't handed to him on a plate, but as a 'qualified' administrator.

interim (non-controlling and non-managing) insolvency administrator

schwacher: the insolvency administrator doesn't take control of the debtor's assets: the debtor is allowed to stay in charge of the insolvent business cf. propular Dallas bankruptcies filed in the US.

starker: the insolvency practitioner takes over as a manager and receiver.

Example sentence:

a "weak" preliminary insolvency administrator

blog.dlapiper.com/.../German_Insolvency_Booklet....‎
29.05.2000 - “weak” or “strong”. When the court appoints a “weak” preliminary insolvency administrator the debtor remains in charge and in possession.

28.04.2009 - whether a preliminary insolvency administrator has (already) been appointed. If so, is this a. “weak” or a “strong” preliminary insolvency.

neutral AllegroTrans : wouldn,t "limited" be a more natural word?; "weak" implies the man cannot do his job properly

the quotation marks are meant to avoid the impression of weakness, see my resp. links.

"weak" temporary liquidator

i.e. one without power of transfer, which is the norm in practice.

Well, maybe I really just want to tell the world that I, too, do insolvency law with this? Pretty literal as a translation and a bit inaccurate at that as it does not necessarily have to be liquidation the debtor is facing. They might survive the insolvency (this is called reorganisation/Sanierung).

So why on earth am I posting this? The reason why is: RWS Verlag uses this for vorläufiger schwacher Insolvenzverwalter in one of its synoptic translations (from a 2007 book). And these guys are the # 1 provider on the German insolvency law literature market.

Liquidation means the entity (Rechtsträger) comes to an end and obviously operation ceases. This is why I really have a doubt about whether this translation would fly at all.

schwacher Insolvenzverwalter
