Thanks for the picture Johanna. I guess what I was trying to say is that these are macroscopic descriptions of specific tubes sent in for histological examination and I was wondering how an English speaking pathologist would render this description.

Are you wondering if Besatz could be interpreted as "growth"?I've found a oicture here: http://www.gfmer.ch/International_activities_En/El_Mowafi/Fa... , the fimbria look a bit like a 'trimming', so I think Besatz simply refers to the shape

feathery appendages

Milder degrees of injury to the tube can result in loss of or damage to the feathery appendages of the tube, the fimbria. This is known as fimbrial phimosis. This can vary from quite subtle degrees of blockage to nearly complete obstruction of the tubes.
