German term

inhaltlich begleiten

German to English Social Sciences Social Science, Sociology, Ethics, etc.
Hi,

I was wondering whether this means "as a mentor", and if not, whether it doesn't because that would be corrupting and falsifying the source text in terms of the precise meaning or whether the reason why it doesn't is that "as a mentor" just doesn't -- sound -- quite right here, whether stylistically or otherwise. I really don't know. However, I would appreciate, if possible, community takes that outperform the current version rather than provide alternatives falling slightly short of it.

This is from German website copy (not yet published) aimed at providing a general feel-good vibe for social work and giving plus activity reports on behalf of a foundation engaged in social funding in regard to specially gifted "kids" (children) that think in images.

EN.
Michael Harslem assisted with the “Freie Hofschule Gaisberg” educational research project as a mentor, a project involving children who think in images being taught on a Demeter farm near Salzburg, Austria, from 2006 to 2012 (more on that – also on the evaluation of the pilot project by the Alanus Hochschule, a private Art College – is available at this link).

Some general textual improvements also welcome, where applicable, even though this marks already our near-final version.

AmEng, please.

Best regards,

who think in images being taught on a farm ?
Lancashireman Jan 19, 2020:
"Double quote marks" Totally superfluous where the name is clearly not English and has initial caps. This makes your translation from German look like - erm - a translation from German. It even manages to make the name of the project look somehow disreputable.

Danke Thomas, das ist sehr hilfreich.
Thomas Pfann Jan 19, 2020:

agree Björn Vrooman : Between 2006 and 2012, Michael Harslem spent a considerable amount of time on a Demeter farm near Salzburg, Austria, where he guided the development of FHG, a research project teaching visually thinking children how to hone their skills./I know. You too!

provided programmatic guidance

I assume that stakeholders hired him to provide advisory/consulting services on how best to plan, structure and implement the project.

From 2006 through 2012, Michael Harslem provided programmatic guidance for the instructional and research project..

Thanks. Other solutions seem to gloss over the issue of 'inhaltlich'. My idea of guidance is good, but neither 'facilitate' nor 'progress and development' hit the right nuance here.
