Cable receptacle? TIA, Beth

cable receptical or socket

Without a glossery or an illustration, it can be pretty hard to tell just what you do have. In any case, "dose" would refer to the female side of a connection. So take your pick. I like socket.

Cable receptacle would be 'Kabelwanne' in German

Kablewanne: go to: www.hima.com/hima_e/bibliothek/wort/hima_biblio_fachwort_d....

Have a look at the reference site - this is definitely a connector. 'Cable socket' may technically correct, but it is ambiguous (is it a socket on a cable or a socket for a cable? And what if it's a plug instead of a socket?).

'cable connector' is a good alternative (see the second ref for example)

oops

sorry, I got a bit carried away in my previous answer: if it's a cable plug, the German is 'Kabelstecker'. Also, 'cable receptacle' isalso OK.
