German term

Tiegelauslastung

German to English Tech/Engineering Manufacturing die-cutting machine / utilisation
Not a lot of context available. The term appears in a bullet point on a slide of a PPT presentation on a lean-production improvement programme for a plant that makes corrugaged board products. The plant is part of an international group with sites in Germany, the Netherlands, Scandanivia, etc.

The specific context is:

Tiegelauslastung der Stanzen ist verhältnismäßig klein

The slide title is 'Potenzial des Produktionssystems', and the category under which the bullet point appears is 'Auslastung / OEE'.

Discussion

Ken Cox (asker) Mar 7, 2008:
No metal being processed here -- strictly corrugaged board production and processing. The only clue I have so far is that Tiegel is also used in the printing industry (and there are quite a few hits for Heidelberg Tiegel machines, but that seems to be a model name). Stanzen is definitely die-cutting in this context.
Steffen Walter Mar 7, 2008:
I am assuming that, according to your specific context, the process of "Stanzen" is equivalent to "die-cutting", rather than punching or stamping. Correct?
Steffen Walter Mar 7, 2008:
No metal involved here? Otherwise, I've found http://www.lfu.bayern.de/luft/fachinformationen/co2_minderun... ("Auslastung der Tiegel", p. 58).

sorry, that is unclear, ...as opposed to 'Schmelztiegel'
Note from asker:
Thanks, and a quite useful suggestion, but isn't the English term for Gegendruck in this sense 'platen'?
