I suggest you leave it as is. I seem to remember eating them in Palermo and that were called "crispole", but that could be the e-i shift as per the siculo-calabrese dialect...

Sorry not to be more enlightening, I usually don't touch culinary translations, but for purposes of translation I would leave as is, but of course that depends on exactly what sort of translation you are having to do...
