I'm not sure if this is the same idea, but when I write about attaching a hydraulic breaker to an excavator I use the words "assembly" or "mounting" or sometimes "fitting".
I would say that "mounting" is more common when we replace something on a regular basis, while assembly is often used for putting together a machine which is likely to stay together as a unit - so I imagine that "assembly" is probably more appropriate for a boring head, as it probably won't be replaced that often. What do you think?

I would say "Assembly involves connecting to the ..." or better still leave out the beginning part and start with "Connect to the ...": it may depend on whether it's a brochure or an instruction booklet
