Italian term

palloncino bis

Italian to English Medical Medical (general) angioplasty
This is in a list of supplies used in an angioplasty procedure:

"Categoria: Cateteri dilatatori a palloncino bis" ... followed by a description: "C. Dil. PTA Mustang 4x80x130" (just for context .. I understand this part)

What does "bis" mean here? I don't find any online examples of "palloncino/palloncini bis" and I don't find anything for "bis balloons" in English.

Thanks for your help.

Joseph Tein (asker) Apr 3, 2018:
Hi Judy, thank you for asking.

There are 5 items named that include the "bis" term, and one entry without it ... that one entry comes later in the list.
JudyC Apr 3, 2018:
Is there another item "Cateteri dilatatoria palloncini" in the list? "Bis" could also refer to the whole entry.

Hi Joe, 'bis' in legal and technical terminology signifies 'a second time', 'twice', or a 'supplement'. There is no standard medical term for 'bis' as it is a standard term in Italian. Also said to actors or musicians in the place of 'encore' in English and French. Here they say 'bis' for 'one more time' or 'again'. This is how I would translate it.

Ciao Cedric, thanks. Haven't heard from you in a while! Buona giornata.
Grazie bis (would that work?)
Peer comment(s):

agree Anne Schulz : Ah - is this the same "bis" as in BID (bis in die) then?
